TURNING EDUCATION INTO CLIMATE ACTION IN CENTRAL ASIA
Education is more than knowledge – it is empowerment.
Climate change education (CCE) equips young people with the
skills, values, and mindsets to become changemakers in their
communities.
Yet CCE remains under-prioritised in national strategies, budgets,
and classrooms – even as extreme weather, water scarcity, and
glacial melt threaten the region.
Through the Greening Education Partnership, UNESCO Almaty
works with governments, educators, youth, and NGOs to green
schools, integrate climate into curricula, and build teacher
capacity.
